About this course

You will be interviewed to assess your interest and passion for hairdressing, personal presentation and interpersonal skills.

Women's Hairdressing Level 2 Diploma
This award is designed for learners wishing to gain foundation skills and knowledge in hairdressing.
Course Content:
To achieve this award candidates must complete nine units, four are mandatory generic units and four are technical units, and one optional unit.

Vocational Relevance:
This qualification gives learners an insight into the hairdressing industry giving them opportunity to gain foundation skills and knowledge in this vocational area, successful candidates will be able to gain employment as a junior stylist.
Awarding body:
City & Guilds.
Work Experience / Practical Experience:
Not compulsory, but firmly advised to gain valuable experience in this ever changing industry.
Attendance Requirements:
College hours will be no more than 20 hours a week spread over approximately three days of the week.

Accreditation of Prior Learning / Experience:
This will be discussed at interview.
Entry Process:
All applicants will be invited to an interview with the tutor. Interviews normally take place between January and September of the year in which the course starts.

Progression Routes:
Upon successful completion of this qualification the learner may progress, subject to a successful interview with the course leader, to the level three diploma in women's hairdressing (6902-04), or the level two diploma in barbering (6902-02), full-time courses of study. Alternatively progress to an apprenticeship and complete a level two in hairdressing or barbering (3014).
Career Options:
Progress onto barbering level two or ladies hairdressing NVQ, or the level three diplomas. Students will be expected to re-apply for and be interviewed for these progression courses.
