The Life Skills Certificate is completed on the first year of the course.
Course Content
The modules taken in the first year are:
- Developing skills for daily living
- Developing personal care and presentation skills
- Using community facilities
- Keeping fit and healthy
- Team Enterprise
- Various option classes including IT and media, paint effects, practical home skills, sport
- Developing creative skills - through either a drama or art option
This leads to a second year, undertaking the Work Skills Certificate, where modules covered are:
- Applying for a job
- Going for an interview
- My role at work
- Travelling to and from work
- Maintaining a work placement
- Taking part in voluntary work
- Working on an Enterprise Activity
Two days work placement is integral throughout both courses and students will receive close tutor guidance on personal growth and development.
Throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to prepare for the world of work, try different types of work experience, gain skills training in a variety of practical activities and improve basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
Assessment/Exams
Throughout the course there will be continuous assessment, portfolio building and short tasks.
Progression/Career Path
On the Life Skills course, students will have the opportunity to progress on to the second year Entry 3 Level course, employment or further study.
On the Entry Level 3, students will choose vocational options to assist them to progress on to NVQs, further work based training or employment.
