Full Time AS Citizenship: Social Science

Course Description:
At AS Level the specification enables students to develop a range of skills which can be applied far beyond the study of Citizenship. Candidates will address the relationship between the individual, the law and the state and the nature of identities, so this subject can support any of these areas of study.

Teaching and Learning Styles

Learning will be achieved by class activities, note-taking, reading, and discussion from primary and secondary sources, videos, Internet and Citizenship sources CDROM. Teaching styles vary from short expositions to discussions and debates. A key element of this course is the opportunity to visit major, British and European Parliaments.

Entry Requirements:
Students wishing to study AS level must have 5 GCSEs at grade C and above.

Assessment and Progression:
Modules can be taken in January and June and can be re-sat more than once. There is an examination paper for each module.
