Summary
The Academy of Travel Management programme provides a sound knowledge base for entering employment in the travel and tourism industry. It is equivalent to 3 'A' levels and upon completion you can choose employment or progress on to higher education. You will learn how the industry, already the largest in the world, will cope with growth and ensure sustainability.

Four Core Units which include: Unit 1: Investigating Travel & Tourism, Unit 2: The Business of Travel & Tourism, Unit 3: The UK as a Destination, Unit 4: Customer Service in Travel & Tourism, Fourteen Specialist Units to be chosen from the following: Unit 5: Marketing Travel & Tourism Products and Services, Unit 6: Preparing for Employment in the Travel & Tourism Industry, Unit 7: The European Travel Market, Unit 8: Long-haul Travel Destinations, Unit 9: Retail and Business Travel Operations, Unit 10: Investigating the Cruise Sector, Unit 11: Sustainable Tourism Development, Unit 12: Tour Operations, Unit 13: Special Interest Tourism, Unit 18: The Appeal and Importance of UK Visitor Attractions, Unit 22: Residential Study Visit, Unit 24: Handling Air Passengers, Unit 26: Current issues in Travel and Tourism, plus an additional Business Unit.

Entry Requirements
Students need either five GCSE passes at grade C or above, to include English Language, or a First Diploma (Level 2) at Merit or Distinction, other acceptable qualifications or experience. All applicants are interviewed and mature students with relevant experience and/or interest will be considered.

Additional Costs
£100 pa for student visits, payable at the initial induction session; £30 for books (recommended texts) **Please note times and dates are correct at the time of printing. Either are subject to change at a later date.

The course gives a general understanding of the industry and opportunities for employment in the UK and overseas. There are eighteen modules which cover a wide range of industry sectors including travel agents, tour operators, airlines and domestic tourism. The modules have been selected to reflect the diversity of the industry and give the opportunity to progress to higher education. There is also the opportunity to gain other qualifications which can be included as part of the programme, such as Spanish (beginners), The Certificate for Resort Representatives, and The Certificate for Airline Cabin Crew.
