Course Content
Often referred to as the Welsh Bacc, this is a new and distinctive qualification for Wales. The Welsh Bac itself consists of a 'core' of studies including work related education, personal and social education, 'Wales, Europe and the world'and Key Skills. It is designed to broaden a learner's experience and provide them with the skills that employers and universities demand. The Welsh Bacc can be completed at three levels: Advanced (Level 3), Intermediate (Level 2) or Foundation (Level 1). In all cases, learners study the Welsh Bac alongside another subject (e.g. AS or A-levels, a National Diploma, or a First Diploma). Course Features
Learners study the full range of 6 Key Skills at different levels depending on the level of Welsh Bac they are doing.
Includes a strong element of personal tutorial.
Gives a broad curriculum including a range of trips, visits and talks from external speakers.
At Level 3, the Welsh Bac carries 120 UCAS points which can be used towards university applications.
Career Prospects and Progression
The Welsh Bac at Level 3 carries 120 UCAS points which can be used towards university applications. However, at all levels, the qualification has been specifically developed to meets the demands of employers and universities for independent learners with good transferable skills. It is an excellent qualification to demonstrate these competencies at foundation, intermediate or advanced levels.

Method of Assessment
The Bac is assessed through a portfolio of evidence of having achieved all the relevant requirements. These include a reflective diary to show how you have learnt about Wales, Europe and the world, records of taking part in work-related education, evidence of progress in learning a language and an individual investigation.
Course Length
At Levels 1 and 2, the Bac is typically a one year course. At Level 3 it is typically a two year course.
