· About Quark Xpress- Overview of DTP
· Projects and Layouts, setting up page size, margins, columns, guides and gutters
· Saving/Naming/Renaming/ Closing a Project/layout/template
· Moving around, scroll bars, 'live' scrolling, zooming in/ out
· Floating palettes, hiding/ showing floating palettes, palette sets
· Text box creation tool, create/ resize text boxes using handles
· Creating and modifying text. Type attributes- font, typestyle, typesize, leading, alignment, tracking, kerning, horizontal/ vertical scaling, baseline shift
· Undo, Copy, Cut, Paste and Select All commands for items/ items contents
· Hiding/ showing invisible (non-printing) characters
· Accessing special characters with glyphs palette
· Text overflow, linking/ unlinking text boxes using link/ unlink chain tools
· Paragraph formats- indents, hanging indents, 1st line indents, drop capitals, widow and orphans, paragraph rules, spacing, Indent here command for bulleted lists/ numbered paragraphs
· Text runaround, Item, Auto and Manual Image modes
