Course programme

Using the College shoot and Shooting estates to gain skills in rearing game birds, the control; of pests and vermin. managing and assessing health and welfare of game.


Duchy College has strong links with the game conservancy, BASC, National Gamekeeping Organisation, Countryside Alliance, National Trust, RSPCA and the RSPB. We regularly work with Local shoots, Cornwall and Devon Wildlife Trust and Duchy Woodlands.


You will need to be at least 16 years old and to have 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including Maths, English and Science. Or have completed a BTEC Level 2 Diploma or the City & Guilds National Certificate in Countryside and the Environment with units at merit and two distinctions.


Duchy College has a small pheasant and partridge shoot used to demonstrate good practise and provide a platform for practical skills development by offering a realistic hands on experience.
