This Gas Safety Assessment comprises of 16 core competencies:
Gas safety legislation;
Gas emergency actions and procedures;
Characteristics of combustion;
Ventilation;
Installation of pipework and fittings;
Test for soundness;
Checking and/or setting meter regulators;
Identification of unsafe situations;
The operation of, and positioning of, emergency isolation controls and valves;
Emergency notices and warning labels;
Checking and setting appliance burner pressures and gas rates;
The operation and checking of appliance gas safety devices and controls;
Flueing standards;
Flue testing;
Installation of open, balanced and fan assisted flue assemblies;
Re-establish existing gas supply and relight appliances. CPA1 - Combustion Performance Analysis.

About this course




One day written and one day practical assessment in the ACS workshop, if appliance assessment required, allow an extra two hours per appliance - CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1 & DAH1.

Course programme

This Gas Safety Assessment training is designed to test the gas safety competence of an operative in core domestic gas work by assessment of practical knowledge and understanding.
CCN1 certification through an approved awarding body by undertaking the Competence based assessment certificated by CITB.
The core competencies are assessed through a combination of written and practical tests.
