ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
  • You will have to attend an interview but you do not need any qualifications to do an Entry Level course. It will help if you are keen to learn.
There will be a limited number of places.

This course will introduce you to the skills you need to work in a career in Childcare, Public Services or Healthcare. This qualification will help you to get further training or even a job.

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
The Course is aimed at students, who would like to study and improve their skills. These students may have left school with few or no qualifications.

This qualification will give you the opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of a range of skills. If appropriate, giving you vocational experience within a care setting.

The course is designed as an introduction to the work place. You will also have the opportunity to practice and develop life skills.

This qualification contains three main elements: Personal, social and emotional development, Vocational qualifications and functional skills.

A portfolio, with evidence of your work will be kept for each unit. This will then be assessed both internally and externally.

HOW WILL I LEARN?
Each qualification is made up of units. Some of these will relate to the Care area, and some units are more general skills like Health and Safety, Dealing with problems and improving your learning. Many units will be practical and may involve work experience. Field trips are a regular activity which assists with the learning process.

WHAT CAN THIS COURSE LEAD TO?
Gateway to Community Studies is based on the Foundation Learning Tier, which is a framework of credit based units and qualifications which will provide clear progression routes through entry-level 2 qualifications
