Description

  • Type

    A Level

This is a one year programme, with opportunities to progress onto the full A-Level, which focuses on developing a broad understanding of photography. The programme aims for every learner to develop their own unique voices using visual imagery, applying technical and contextual understanding confidently to realise their intentions. Learners are provided with the skills to develop their own personal practice, to go on to complete the full A-level or work towards a new career, all alongside like-minded individuals. Learners are encouraged to explore individual interests and ideas over a range of genres through the development of sketchbooks to record their progress. Programme content includes how to use your camera on manual settings, digital manipulation, studio photography, analogue photography and experimental photography using historic printing techniques. Technical and creative skills are addressed equally in a professional learning environment where dialogue, experimentation and enjoyment underline the entire curriculum. External opportunities and competitions are provided for all learners to push themselves outside their comfort zones and develop extra-curricular experiences and all learners are kept up-to-date on current exhibitions and events of interest. AS Photography consists of a coursework portfolio and controlled assessment and AL Photography includes a self-initiated portfolio module and an externally set controlled assessment.
