Course description When you study History, you learn to understand and evaluate written material, to express yourself fluently in written and oral communication, and to research, organise and present arguments. The skills developed in the GCSE will be transferable to an A-Level programme. For GCSE students this course will lay a solid foundation for progress to an A-Level programme in History, Ancient History or any Humanities, English or Languages A-Level subjects. 3. Entry requirements You MUST have a grade D in GCSE English language (and be re-sitting this course at College) or be on an A-Level programme. Previous study of History is not required, but if you have some knowledge of History either ancient or modern you will find the course particularly attractive. A genuine interest and enthusiasm for the study of the past are basic requirements, together with the initiative and capacity to study hard, both as a part of a group and individually. You need to have the self-discipline and motivation to undertake the reading, research and writing required in the course and which will be applied to the coursework unit. 4.
