This GCSE is ideally suited to adults aged 19+ who want to progress onto the Access course, or to University and have not achieved traditional GCSE Science qualification to grade C but who wish to pursue a career requiring formal science qualifications (such as teaching, midwifery, health professions etc.). This is a practical, one-year course enabling learners to develop scientific understanding of how biology influences and changes our lives as well as practical skills in scientific investigation enabling hands on opportunities which will enable support deep understanding and retention of core concepts. You will also benefit from developed mathematical, communication and practical laboratory skills working scientifically through experimental investigation, strategies, analysis and evaluation.

About this course
There are no previous learning requirements. Learners will be required to attend an initial assessment in Numeracy, the outcome should show you are at least level 1 preferably working towards L2.

What will I study on the course?
Learner will develop practical skills through hands-on work which will enable you to can see how science is used to solve problems and how this contributes to our daily lives. You will study topics including; Cell Biology, Infection and response, Homeostasis and response and Inheritance, variation and evolution.
