Course content:
The course seeks to stimulate interest and enjoyment in the study of Chemistry and thereby provide an understanding of how the subject relates to many aspects of everyday life.
The learning scheme will provide well designed studies of exploratory and investigational chemistry and should offer a worthwhile educational experience for all candidates, whether or not they go on to study beyond this level.
The subject content of the syllabus has been divided into the following THEMES:-
· The properties, classification and structure of materials
· Explanations of the properties of materials ) CORE
· Chemical changes ) CONTENT
· The Earth and its atmosphere )
· Mineral Chemistry ) ADDITIONAL
· Organic Chemistry ) CONTENT

Assessment procedure:
Assessment takes the form of TWO written papers AND a coursework component. The assessment pattern for the written papers in arranged in two tiers:-

COURSEWORK ASSESSMENT
The practical component takes the form of Investigations in which the following Skills (Strands) are assessed:-

A Planning ask questions, predict and hypothesise

B Implementing observe, measure and manipulate variables

C Analysing interpret their results

D Evaluating evaluate scientific evidence
