GCSE English is an essential qualification for entry into higher education. It is also a requirement in many jobs such as the civil service, teaching, the armed forces and the police force.

- The College welcomes applicants over 21 years of age, each application is considered on individual merit and formal qualifications may not be required dependant upon experience
How the course will be assessed
The Coursework consists of:
40% speaking and listening, 20% reading and writing and 20% 4 pieces of coursework:
- Based on the study of one Act of a Shakespeare play
- Response to prose ("Of Mice and Men", John Steinbeck)
- Personal writing: to explore, imagine, entertain
- Personal writing: to inform, explain, describe

- Q3 Writing to argue, persuade, advise
- Q1 Addresses pre-released and unseen poems
