Course programme
This course will teach you the Edexcel GCSE English Literature (1ET0 specification) syllabus.
You'll study a mix of prose, poetry and drama:
- Shakespeare: "The Merchant of Venice"
- Post-1914 Literature: "An Inspector Calls" by J B Priestley
- 19th-Century Novel: "Silas Marner" by George Eliot
- Poetry since 1789
You'll need to source your own copy of each prose and drama text.
GCSE examsPlease note that you’re responsible for booking your exam.
You’ll arrange to sit it at a school or college roughly 6 months before your exam date.
The GCSE English Literature exam consists of two written papers:
- Paper 1: Shakespeare and Post-1914 Literature
- Paper 2: 19th-Century Novel and Poetry Since 1789
