Introduction This course is intended for students who already have a sound basic knowledge of the language. You may have already studied the language at school and want to improve your grade. You will have the opportunity to revise topics you have previously studied, improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills and go over basic grammar. The GCSE language class meets once a week for two hours. You will be able to use the Language Lab for private study in addition to the weekly class.
You will experience a wide variety of approaches to the teaching and learning of languages and will be offered insights into contemporary society of French speaking countries through the means of internet, film and satellite TV. In addition, you will be encouraged to reach a positive understanding of other languages and cultures by meeting native speakers who are also studying at the college.
Further Opportunities Students with a GCSE at higher level (grade A or B recommended) or NOCN Intermediate level are equipped to study a language at A Level. The OCR AS/A GCE in French integrates the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing for the purposes of practical communication, required for study, work and leisure.
Other Information To complement your full-time course of study, you may choose to join a French GCSE language class in the evening.
