About this course

16-19 year olds, wishing to study a full time GCSE programme, require 4 GCSEs at grade D or above. If you do not meet these requirements, or are aged over 19, you'll be asked to complete an initial assessment to help us make sure this is the right level course for you.

Course Content:
The subject concentrates on knowledge, skills and problem solving. This is a modular programme and students will be entered for the Foundation Tier. Teaching is related to everyday situations wherever possible and the materials used have been adapted to prevent gender or cultural bias. If you wish to extend your study over 2 years, you will take the City & Guilds numeracy examination at the end of the first year.

GCSE Maths is essential if you are considering a career in teaching or want to study sciences or psychology at A Level. The course is available at the following sites. You will be expected to take at least 4 GCSE subjects if you are on a full time programme.

Progression:
Successful students with appropriate grades in GCSE subjects have progressed onto A Levels, an Access course or other vocational courses such as GNVQ or BTEC.
