The course is designed to provide an interesting and motivating awareness of the relationship of Physics to everyday life and of the interaction of Physics with engineering and technology.
It is intended that the teaching and learning scheme will provide well-designed studies of exploratory and investigational Physics and will give a worthwhile educational experience for all candidates, whether or not they go on to study beyond this level.

The course consists of the study of the following themes:-

· Forces and Motion
· Waves
· The Earth and Beyond
· Energy Resources and Energy Transfer
· Radioactivity

The examination board (SEG) will not award grades outside the range stated.
Assessment: Coursework plus 2 written papers at end of course
Coursework 25% For both tiers
Core written paper 50% For both tiers
*Additional written paper 25% Different additional
papers for each tier.

A variety of practical exercises, preparing students for practical assignments for assessment of coursework, will be set. Students will be given advance warning when a practical assignment is intended to be considered for assessment.
