AQA GCSE Sociology

Course Content:
Sociology examines how people behave and organise their lives in society and why they behave the way they do. It examines the following important questions: Why do people commit crime? How equal are men and women today? What is racism and why does it exist? What is the future of work? Other main topics include research methods, social class, education, population, poverty, politics.

It is not necessary to have any previous knowledge of this subject. However, an interest in and awareness of social issues will assist you in your learning. You can study this subject on its own or as part of a full programme. A research project completed during the course accounts for 20% of the final mark.

Progression:
Successful students with appropriate grades in GCSE subjects have progressed onto A Levels, an Access course or other vocational courses such as GNVQ or BTEC. Others have obtained employment
