Course programme

Introduction

Grafton College is committed to a General English teaching programme that focuses on the learner. Our approach is student-centred and communicative, which means that teachers will focus on individual aims and interests to help learners use English in an effective and practical way. This course focuses on integrating all the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing with a special emphasis placed on communication skills, improvement in fluency and confidence in speaking English. This course also prepares you for an internationally recognised exam (e.g. Cambridge ESOL), if required (London campus only)*.

Teachers make use of course books, but also supplement lessons with authentic material and out-of-class activities. You should allow at least two hours of self-study per day.

General English classes are available at all levels from Beginner to Advanced. We make sure you go to the right group according to your current knowledge by asking you to take a placement test when you arrive at the College. The duration of one level takes 10 weeks where at the end you will be given an exam to assess your progress.
