Introduction

Why Learn English With LSM?
We currently live in a world where English is the dominant language of commerce and communication; the so-called ‘universal language’. For this reason, a sound knowledge of English is a prerequisite for studying on any academic programme at the London School of Management or any other academic body in Britain.

We primarily encourage you to learn through discovery and active practice, rather than being reliant on teachers, tapes and textbooks. Tasks are designed to respond to individual learning styles and needs, and we offer constructive feedback acknowledging that making mistakes is a crucial part of effective learning. We have a wide range of resources to help you develop your skills in all language areas.

Prepare for and Gain Recognised Qualifications
Learning is normally organised in multi-strand groups of between 10 and 16 students. A placement test helps us determine your level of English, and set individual targets for your progress. Throughout the course, we give you continuous feedback on your strengths and help you identify which areas you need to improve. Near the end of the course, you will be counselled by the teacher who will discuss the progress you have made and recommend the next course you should take.

The learning objectives are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which offer you a reliable international benchmark of your current ability. Our courses also offer you opportunities to prepare for, and gain, recognised international qualifications in English such as IELTS, Cambridge First Certificate and City & Guilds/Pitman International ESOL.

We want your time at LSM to be enjoyable and rewarding inside and outside the classroom. To promote friendship and help you get more out of your studies, we have a social programme where we arrange students’ evenings and day-trips. It is our firm belief that people learn better when they are relaxed, interested and involved.
