Course programme

Course Delivery:

This qualification is designed for employees working in ‘operative’ roles in the recycling industry. Unlike the Level 1 Diploma in Recycling Activities, this qualification is not split into pathways and offers a more general route. The structure of the qualification has been designed to enable complete flexibility across the sustainable recycling roles at an ‘operational’ level.

The qualifications aim is to develop occupational competence in a wide range of job roles in the collection, transfer, treatment and final disposal of waste and resources and to provide a structured route to job competence and career progression.

To achieve this qualification candidates must achieve a minimum of 38 credits by completing all mandatory units (24 credits).

  • Working safely in the recycling industry

Learners can then choose five units from the option units group:

  • Prepare plant and equipment for processing recyclables and other materials

An assessor will visit the candidate’s workplace to observe their work ‘on-the-job’. The candidate will compile a ‘portfolio of evidence’ which will demonstrate that they have the knowledge and competence necessary to meet the standard set in the qualification.
