The Leaning Tower of Pisa (almost 56 meters high), located in the region of Toscana, Central Italy, is considered the most known building worldwide for its unintended tilt. Here, millions of tourists take pictures of this world's wonder located in the city's Cathedral Square. Nevertheless, the cylinder shaped tower, built in the XII century, would not have leaned if the geodesy specialists had had carried their work appropriately long before the beginning of the tower's construction.
A geodesist is a specialist, who is always the first to enter the construction site of any object; he/she carries out the marking, supervises the process of construction, the already built object, and reports any changes in the object's conditions. The object (a lot or building) is being legally registered in the Real estate cadaster and register only on the basis of geodesy measurements. Without this procedure, a person cannot legalize their estate. Geodesy measurements determine the precision of maps and the reliability of data.
Geodesy study programme is intended for the future surveyors, geodesy specialists, land planners, real estate specialists, who are able to carry out geodesy, topographical and cartographical works.
The word "geodesy", coined by the Greek philosopher Aristotle, involves the composition of geodesy networks, measurement of buildings and other constructions, sediment and tilt evaluation, real estate cadaster data assessment and measurement, constructions and equipment marking on location.
Topographical and cartographical works include air photography, topographical and batimetrical plans production, under construction and built engineering networks plans, creation of georeference databases, air navigational charts, production of nautical charts, cartographic databases and the thematic mapping of a commercial nature.

About this course

Some key abilities and knowledge that Geodesy study programme helps students develop and acquire include:
The ability to wok with the newest geodesy equipment and apply the newest technology methods;
The ability to draft various maps;
The ability to mark constructions on location and supervise the construction process;
The ability to evaluate and check the condition (deformations) of the built structures;
The ability to carry out the cadaster measurements, necessary for the registration, acquisition and sales of land lots and/or other real estate;
The ability to draft land lot division, marking, merging projects.

Once you have graduated, you will be employable as a specialist able to:
Work at public and private geodesy, cartographic and cadaster institutions;
Work at planning, research, construction companies; land planning inspections, municipalities;
