If you have followed a non-standard educational route and have been, for example, educated at home, your application will be considered against the standard entry criteria of the course to which you applied. You will be required to demonstrate that you meet the academic entry requirements as specified for the course. We will also require a reference which should be written by somebody who knows you well enough, in an official capacity, to write about you and your suitability for higher education. All suitable applicants are invited to attend a visit day. Applicants who cannot attend are made an offer bachelorsed on their application form. During the day interviews will be conducted with a member of staff that will help inform us about who we will offer our bursaries to.
Course details

During the admissions cycle we will be inviting applicants to visit the school and will be holding interviews, which will  help us select the recipients of our prestigious new William Boyd Dawkins Scholarships (up to ten awards to the value of £1000).

Careers
As a geologist or earth scientist your potential career paths will be extremely varied.  You could end up prospecting for diamonds in Suriname, or work as an exploration geologist in the oil and gas sector, or as a policy adviser for a major oil company. Around 40% of our students go on to study for further degrees and nearly  80% of our 2010 graduates surveyed were in fulltime employment or studying
