What will I learn?
More than earthquakes, volcanoes and asteroid impacts! Geology draws on skills and material from all the major science disciplines (physics, chemistry, biology) but also has a strong practical element. The important skills that the course will develop include observation skills, handling evidence, problem-solving and building an argument. These skills are highly transferable to the job market.
What qualifications do I need?
We would normally require candidates to have the standard sixth form entry criteria.
Career opportunities:
The skills developed on this course are very significant to all students progressing to higher education or employment. Combining Geology with other advanced subjects (e.g. the Sciences, Geography and I.T.) will allow you to seek employment in the traditional areas (e.g. mineral/fuel prospecting and exploitation or civil engineering), but also into the growing field of environmental awareness.
