About this course

Before taking their end-point assessment, apprentices must achieve level 2 English and Maths (equivalent to GCSEs at grades A* to C).

We have an extensive support package available, including college attendance to functional skills classes and an online teaching and learning platform, which guides learners from an initial and a diagnostic assessment, through to being exam ready.

Year 1

The Hair Professional apprenticeship program will require you to develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours in a professional environment and achieve a series of standards to prove your competence and skill: hair industry practices and principles
hair cutting and styling techniques for all hair types. Using specialist hair grooming materials and tools. Communication skills – including meeting and greeting, and building rapport. Specialist hairdressing skills and health and safety requirements and legislation.

Year 2

Develop a range of essential hairdressing skills applied and refined in a real working environment.

Additional information

On-programme is the learning phase for apprentices to pick up the skills, knowledge and behaviours set in each standard. Apprentices need to complete 20% off-the-job training during the on-programme phase of their apprenticeship. You can track and monitor the 20% through our e-portfolio. On program assessment includes: – Regular assessment (involving employer and training provider) – Development of a portfolio demonstrating learning and development activities with their application in the workplace. – Completion of Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals End Point Assessment End-point assessment (EPA) is the final stage that an apprentice goes through to complete their apprenticeship. The apprentice must show their learning to an independent end-point assessor and the grades available are distinction, pass or fail. • A practical assessment • Oral questioning • The practical assessment and oral questioning will assess the learner’s professionalism, values, behaviours, communication, safe working practices and consultation skills.
