This new joint degree enables you to acquire in-depth relevant linguistic and cultural studies, including a year abroad, while developing your ability as an analyst of international economic phenomena. 50% of your degree will be in Economics and 50% in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures.

About this course

You will have around 13 hours of contact time per week. We employ a variety of teaching styles, including: lectures, often to the whole year group; seminars of about 15 students, in which the emphasis is on student participation; and written and spoken language classes in small groups. You will spend the rest of your time studying independently, preparing for classes, reading the primary texts, writing essays and working on your language skills.

Our graduates work for organisations including: United Nations, the Ministry of Defence, British Airways, BBC Sussex, Nestle.

Examples of our graduates’ job roles include: Lead European marketer, Freelance translator & Editor, German Language Teacher, Project Controller, European Graduate trainee, Events Assistant.

A level: AAB, to include A level in a modern or classical language, plus GCSE Mathematics grade A/grade 7 or equivalent.

IB: 36 points, including 5 at IB Higher Level in a modern or classical language, plus either GCSE Mathematics grade A/grade 7 or 5 in Higher Level/6 in Standard Level Maths.
