Course Content
Students will study aspects of modern life in the countries where German is spoken. In the AS year we encourage students to develop listening and speaking skills. The various class activities offer students the opportunity to gain confidence in these areas. Students will be able to work on topics of their own choice in class and in their own home.
Students will need to broaden their vocabulary and grammatical knowledge to consolidate their knowledge through structured exercises and tasks.
Visits to Germany are encouraged as well as individual research for the oral presentation

AS Unit 1:This unit is the speaking part of the course where students prepare, research and then speak about a chosen topic which is particulary interesting to them.

AS Unit 2:This unit deals with listening reading and writing about areas such as day-to-day matters, society and the working world plus written responses to advertisements, letters, e-mail etc.

There will be a number of planned social events designed to enrich the learner's experience throughout the course including visits to the cinema, restaurants, markets, cultural events etc.
How will I be assessed?

What can I do next?

The topic comes from the areas of day-to-day matters, society and the working world, the environment and citizenship and the international context.
