Take photographs using your SLR digital camera and use a computer to alter colour, contrast and brightness using basic tools that come with computer packages such as Photoshop Elements. There will also be a photo shoot arranged on a Saturday morning to practice your photographic skills.

About this course

This course is suitable for learners who wish to make better use of their SLR digital camera and learn more about digital photography.This course is not suitable for point and shoot digital cameras.

No previous knowledge is required of using your camera, but basic ICT knowledge is essential, as you will be required to download and copy files early in the course.

How will I learn?

Your tutor will teach you by lecture/discussion, demonstration, handouts and one-to-one help when appropriate.

By your tutor on a weekly basis and also by your own individual learning plan

What equipment or materials will I need to provide?

You will have to use your own digital SLR camera. It would also be useful to have access to a tripod for working in low light conditions.
You will require a note book

What other support is available?

Help with numeracy or literacy is available. ICT drop-in sessions are available during term time and are open to all learners. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Learner Support Funding is available for equipment, childcare and travel to learners who qualify. For further details please ask when enrolling.

Use of Moodle, our online learning environment, to store and retrieve files
Night time photography and capturing light trails

A Saturday morning visit to an English Heritage property to practice photographic skills
