You will learn the use of a sewing machine, its applications and basic maintenance. You will also learn about basic pattern cutting, how to make easy clothing alterations and how to produce a garment from a simple pattern, how to interpret commercial patterns and alter to fit, take correct body measurements to ensure garment fit.

What equipment or materials will I need to provide?

Some equipment and materials will need to be provided by you. You should be prepared to bring scissors, pins, needles, threads and a tape measure, plus fabric to make your chosen item(s). Sewing machines and irons are provided. Costs will vary according to the material chosen, so for further guidance on cost please contact the centre.
