The glazier specializes in the sizing and assembly of mirrors and glass plates in windows, shop windows, glass roofs, partitions, etc. The activity is carried out as an employee of a glass installation company or craftsman. Its activity takes place mainly in laboratories and on assembly sites, in private homes and public places. It can happen to work in narrow or difficult to access spaces or suspended in the air, as well as exposed to bad weather and dust. To carry out its business it mainly uses diamond blades, cutters, manual drills, grinders. The glassmaker therefore deals with the processing of glass, a material obtained through the solidification of a liquid not accompanied by crystallization. The glasses are amorphous solids, therefore they do not have an ordered crystal lattice, but a disordered and rigid structure, composed of covalently linked atoms; this disordered network allows the presence of interstices in which impurities, often desired, given by metals may be present.
