About this course

We will be exploring this stunning technique is our five weeks course. Gaby will take you from the preparation of padding, thru to applying couching, chipping, cut work and other embroidery techniques. We will explore the use of a wide variety of metal threads such as Passing, Twist, Pearl Purl, Spangles, Japanese Threads, Rococco, Bright Check, Rough Purl, Smooth Purl and Broad Plate.
This course will also allow you to bring your embroidery projects you might have issues finishing or just need a little help with. Don’t hesitate to bring it along with you!

Course programme

Taught by Gaby who is a graduate from The Royal School of Needlework, Hampton Court Palace in 2012 with a degree from the University for Creative Arts in Technical Hand Embroidery. You will learn how to embellish fabric with beads. Techniques covered include: running stitch, split stitch, chain stitch, back stitch, petite point, French knots and the very versatile appliqué (applying fabric on fabric). In this course you will cut your collar from a simple pattern, stretch your fabric in an embroidery hoop and once finished you will sew it together. You can then take your knowledge and be able to embellish your pillowcases, t-shirts and even linen. This course will take you from being a complete beginner to a competent and confident stitcher.
