2. Course description This programme combines practical and theoretical elements to prepare students for a competitive golf environment. Study will involve investigation and research into how the body functions in terms of training for peak performance and how to train and understand how the mind works when playing competitive golf. Golf coaching will be considered in some detail and should allow students to develop their understanding of the principles of coaching and golf ball flight. The programme includes consideration of business management skills required by the industry and prepares students for the work place. Students will also study golf course architecture and the application of the rules of golf in tournament play.

Entry requirements The minimum entry qualifications for the programme are:From A levels: 160 UCAS points; BTEC: 160 UCAS points; Access Diploma: Pass; Plus:English and maths GCSE and it is advantageous to have a science (biology) or psychologyA minimum IELTS score of 6 or TOEFL equivalent is required for those for whom English is not their first language.A single figure handicap is desirable and should be set as a realistic target to be achieved during the next two years of the course 4. Assessment method A wide range of skills will be assessed through structured question and answer papers, essays, practical skills tests, assignments, dissertation project, site appraisal reports, oral and visualpresentations, workplace journal examinations, event management demonstration.
