The Graduate Diploma in Education (Senior Years) will allow you to obtain a teaching qualification if you have a bachelor degree in a field other than education.

The Graduate Diploma in Education is an innovative and progressive qualification which will prepare you for teaching. The course includes educational and curriculum studies to complement content knowledge obtained from your previous qualification. Field experience in school settings will give you the confidence and expertise to be ready to teach.
Flexible delivery
You can choose to study externally (with the exception of some teaching areas), or on campus, and either part time or full time. Please note that evening only classes may not be available.
Real-world learning
Professional experience (field experience) placements will give you the opportunity to work in real school classrooms. You will be required to complete two full-time professional experience units. The majority of professional experience must be completed in Australian schools.
Career outcomes
As senior years specialists, graduates are prepared to teach in secondary schools with your career guided by your two teaching areas. Your qualification can also allow you to work in other locations within Australia and overseas.

Future changes to this course
From 2018, QUT will offer a two-year graduate program for secondary teaching. Students entering the Graduate Diploma in Education (Senior Years) in 2017 must complete the course by the end of 2018 to be assured of teacher registration.
