Course programme

There is a strong emphasis on live projects (particularly working with contemporary youth orientated products, services and markets) and a weekly professional guest speaker programme invites cutting-edge communicators and practitioners to share views from a wide range of design and communication fields.

Students are encouraged to integrate theoretical studies alongside your work in order to enrich personal practice and help develop a highly original and directional portfolio.

Course Structure

Year 1: You examine the design process and contemporary communication in all its diversity. You will experiment alongside a diverse range of professionals in hand and digital generated mark making, design for print and moving image which will help inform the area you might subsequently choose to specialise in during year two.

The specialist areas include:

  • Graphic Design Media - Focuses your interest in design for print, creative typography, imaging, fashion graphics or even design for the music industry.
  • Digital Design Media - Explores digital territories across 2, 3 and 4 dimensions within narrative and acoustic space and combines with live projects across a variety of interactive platforms.

Year 2: Explores your personal interests towards the development of a focused, contemporary and contextual portfolio containing both live and self-directed projects; honing your skills alongside practicing experts in these fields.

Year 3: Further develops an understanding of the links between design and the user, leading to a portfolio that combines creative innovation with design excellence, achieved by participation in exclusive live projects.
