NHC programmes teach you employability skills to prepare you directly for work in different sectors. These skills include customer service, reception duties, client care, salon management, and health and safety. You will develop your techniques in our highly professional training salons, which are fully equipped to provide you with a real commercial experience, working on a wide range of clients. You will also be given many opportunities to take part in extracurricular activities, such as industry days, photo shoots, professional product training, exhibitions, competitions, cross college events, and additional workshops. You will also gain valuable work experience with companies such as Champneys, Dermalogica, Aqua-Sana, Centre Parcs and Wella, as well as participating in charitable and community ventures.

• GENTS BARBERING: Our programmes will provide you with the expertise in the basic aspects of gents' barbering. The programme includes cutting, styling, facial beard shaping and consultation, and health and safety. Additionally you will develop retailing and reception skills, and learn how to promote future products and services to enhance the growth of the business. You will be equipped to enter the industry with all the essential knowledge required for a successful career in barbering, having developed your wider communication and commercial skills.
• WOMENS HAIRDRESSING: Our programmes will provide you with expertise in all aspects of women's hairdressing. This will include the knowledge of what is required from a junior assistant, to the skills of a junior and advanced stylist. The programmes include cutting, colouring, perming, styling and consultation. Additionally, you will develop retailing and reception skills, and learn how to promote future products and services to enhance the growth of the business. You will be equipped to enter the industry with all the essential knowledge required for a successful career in hairdressing, having developed wider communication and commercial skills.
• BEAUTY THERAPY: Our programmes will provide you with expertise in all aspects of beauty therapy including facials, manicure, pedicure, waxing, lash and brow treatments, make-up, body massage, permanent hair removal, face and body electrotherapy treatments, and microdermabrasion. Additionally, you will develop retailing and reception skills and learn how to provide skin analysis, figure diagnosis, as well as dietary and exercise advice, with all treatments relating to a good understanding of anatomy and physiology and how the body works. You will be equipped to enter the industry with all the essential knowledge required for a successful career in beauty therapy, having developed your wider communication and commercial skills.
• THEATRICAL & MEDIA MAKE UP: on our programmes, you will learn the basics of character make-up, special effects and media make-up, hairdressing techniques for media make-up, wigs, postiche, prosthetics, bald caps and the application of airbrush, camouflage, media, fashion and photographic make-up.

We have a high success rate at helping students to move directly on to full-time employment or establish their own businesses. Previous NHC alumni have even embarked on many adventures and even toured the world as therapists or hairdressers on Steiner cruise ships. Others have even gone on to win awards in the beauty sector and become specialists in the industry, leading the way in new cosmeceutical treatments such as Cooltech Fat Freezing.
