Hairdressing City & Guilds NVQ Level 2

Course Overview
This course is suitable for students either progressing from Hairdressing Level 1 and/or anyone with an interest in hairdressing as a career.
Level 2 is the accepted minimum for a junior hairdresser in the industry.

Additional training is highly recommended to enhance and supplement your main learning goal, to improve employment opportunities and add to your curriculum vitae. As such we endeavour to organise and arrange as varied external input as possible during your course of study.

Course Structure
The programme is delivered over one academic year (34 weeks).

• Promoting a Positive Impression of Yourself and Your Organisation
• Hygiene
• Consultation
• Shampoo and Conditioning
• Basic Cutting
• Finishing & Dressing Techniques
• Basic Colouring Techniques
• Salon Manager responsibility
• Essential Skills(Literacy, Numeracy & ICT)

C&G NVQ in Hairdressing at level 2

Assessments/Examinations
4GCSE's at grade D-G OR equivalent. Successful College interview. Target testing (attainment relating to level). Satisfactory school/college report or references. A knowledge of and interest in hairdressing is desirable and will be assessed at interview.


As part of the Entry Requirements it is important to note that, as this is a service industry, students must meet the demands of the course which include: good interpersonal and communication skills, personal hygiene, and positive personal attributes.
