Handling Nerves in Public Speaking

There are many valid psychological reasons why you might feel nervous about speaking in public. You may have already had a bad experience in front of an audience or the same may have happened to a friend or colleague. It's an unpleasant experience to see anybody suffer and we automatically recoil from being involved in such occurences. That's why the College of Public Speaking is here to help.

Are you affected by any of the following when speaking in public?

  • Stagefright
  • Uncontrollable nerves
  • Clammy hands
  • Breathing problems
  • Lack of confidence

You are not alone - indeed you are in the majority of ordinary people who freeze when asked to speak in public.

Our award winning instructors will help you overcome these problems - after all, they have seen them many times before. However, each individual is unique and we can offer you a combination of useful techniques to help you conquer the situation.

Throughout the day, your self-esteem and self-confidence is built incrementally so that by the end of the workshop, your newly found skills and self-confidence will resonate in all aspects of your business and personal life.

Throughout the course, each delegate receives multiple opportunities to practice in front of the group in a number of real world speaking scenarios.

Syllabus:

  • How to diminish nerves and build confidence in delivering effective presentations
  • Ice-breaker exercise based on introducing another member of the group.
  • Appreciate how to structure presentations so that the audience understands the messages that you wish to convey.
  • Using your voice to keep the audience focused on your presentation.
  • Building a rapport with the audience and winning them around to your way of thinking.
