Head teacher course

The head teacher, in Italy, is a head of the Italian public administration in charge of the top of a school in Italy. School managers are currently recruited by the Ministry of Education through a national public competition course. Requirements for access are membership of teaching and educational staff, being hired for an indefinite period, having obtained confirmation in the role, being in possession of a master's degree, a second level academic diploma issued. from institutions of higher artistic, musical and dance training or an academic diploma of the old joint system with a diploma from an upper secondary school, have served for at least five years in the schools and educational institutions of the national education system. The employment relationship of the managers is for an indefinite period while the duration of the individual management positions of the educational institutions is for a fixed term and is between three and five years. The executive position is renewable without limits. The duration of the additional roles of regency of scholastic institutions without a titular manager is a maximum of one scholastic year, possibly renewable. It is also a figure who monitors the freedom of teaching of teachers, as long as this is done in compliance with the didactic plans promoted by the institute and the Ministry of Education. The head teacher also ensures the respect and protection of pupils, defending their right to learning. Wanting to summarize the role of the head of a school, this figure occupies a coordinating role of the institute, in all its facets. This means that he is also in charge of management, for which he always has an autonomous power. Furthermore, another task of him is the enhancement of the human resources that are employed by the school.
