About this course
You will need to be at least 16 years of age and demonstrate a keen interest in health and social care. You must also show the ability to work at Level 2 e.g. three GCSEs (grade D or above) including English or literacy at Level 1 or above. Criminal Record Bureau checks are required.

What will I learn?
This course is recognised as a necessary qualification to work in the health and social care sector. It covers all aspects of working in health and social care, including lifespan development, cultural diversity, Anatomy and physiology and communication skills among others. You will study key skills in IT, numeracy and communication and you will be given the opportunity to complete work experience of a minimum of 60 hours in a health or social care setting. Practical activities undertaken in this setting will link theory to practice. It also offers the opportunity to apply to progress to Level 3 in the health and social care pathway.
How will I be taught?
You will have a mixture of group activities, discussions some lectures and practical activities. You will complete a minimum of 60 hours work experience placement.
How will I be assessed?
You are assessed through a mixture of assignments and portfolio tasks. You must achieve a Pass for your work experience from your placement supervisor.
What could I do next?
With an overall merit or distinction grade you can apply for the Level 3 BTEC National Certificate in Care or Health Studies.
