Elements of this course can be delivered through the medium of Welsh.
This course is designed to prepare students to work in health/social care related careers in a professional capacity. It examines a wide variety of current and topical health and social care issues which demonstrate the diverse nature of the sector.

Development through the life stages
Anatomy and physiology for health and social care

Course programme

You will also study literacy and numeracy modules which will include Essential Skills Wales Level 3 and other related qualifications. Students are also required to undertake work placements (residential and nursing care, family centres and voluntary organisations).

Students will also complete the Advanced Diploma Welsh Baccalaureate.


Foundation Degree in Care and Support / Early Childhood at Gower College Swansea. Employment in social work, occupational therapy, nursing, midwifery, radiography, criminology, environmental health and probation.

Students will need at least four GCSEs at Grade C or above including English Language or a merit / distinction profile at Level 2 with 90% attendance and supported by placement and tutor reports. All students must complete a DBS (CRB) prior to enrolling on the course. Students will need a genuine interest in people and should demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm. Students need to be reliable, honest, trustworthy, well motivated and self-reliant.

Elements of this course can be delivered through the medium of Welsh. Polo shirts are £10 and you will need two. There may be additional costs involved for trips and these will be explained as they arise.
