The DProf is a part time course. It is undertaken in two stages and normally takes around four years to complete.

Stage 1 comprises the taught element of the DProf. This stage takes a minimum of two years to complete. It focuses on advanced research techniques in health, social work, social care and wellbeing and includes the following modules:

Undertaking a Critical Literature Review in Health and Wellbeing

Positionality and the Researcher

Advancing professional practice

Understanding Research Processes and Structures

Stage 2 is the thesis stage of the DProf. It takes a minimum of two years to complete. During this time the student undertakes and submits a practice based thesis.

On campus attendance is kept to a minimum. Traditional taught sessions, delivered in blocks of two to three days, are combined with virtual technologies to create a more personalised teaching and learning experience. At this level of study self-direction is essential and students will be required to manage their own learning, particularly in stage 2.
