About this course
Students will normally have a first degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and be in (or recently in) professional practice. Applicants who are in doubt as to the acceptability of their qualifications may discuss this with the Postgraduate Co-ordinator.

Syllabus
Students complete taught courses to a total of 120 credits. These must include the three core courses and a further 60 credits made up from elective courses plus a dissertation based on a study related to their area of professional practice (60 credits) OR (alternative mode) students complete the three core courses (60 credits) and a larger dissertation (120 credits).

Note: At the discretion of the programme co-ordinator and with the approval of Senate, credit may be given for relevant postgraduate courses taken at other higher education institutions.
Assessment
Core courses and most electives offered by the Centre for Advanced Studies in Nursing (CASN) are assessed summatively by the submission of one/two negotiated assignments related to the content of the course. Assessment of other courses varies according to the requirements of the programmes in which they are based.
Teaching
A range of teaching methods are utilised by the centre including; lectures, seminars and discussions groups and it is anticipated that students will actively take part in the sessions.

24-36 months, part-time.
