About this course

This two-year part-time Master's course is run by the Centre for Health Policy, one of the Institute of Global Health Innovation's established Centres. It offers you the chance to learn about important aspects of health policy from leading international academics and practitioners. The course is aimed at those already working in the health sector, including government officials, clinicians, and employees of health insurance and consulting companies, as well as the healthcare industries. Through intensive blocks of teaching coupled with personal study, the course allows you to obtain a Master’s qualification without the need to take time out from your career. You will acquire a detailed theoretical and practical understanding of health policy, and be shown both quantitative and qualitative research techniques that will enable you to carry out original studies. Students also develop the ability to critique existing and emerging health policy on the basis of evidence and knowledge. You will gain a comparative perspective that enables you to consider the challenges affecting different regions and countries, as well as alternative potential responses to them. Additionally, you will also be presented with the opportunity to network with international peers.

Course programme

During the two-year course you attend four two-week teaching sessions at Imperial. You also complete an individual dissertation under the joint supervision of a member of staff from both the College and your chosen organisation.

Each teaching block has two modules – one a week. Six of the modules are core and two are elective modules.

The research dissertation element is one extended project that will be completed outside the teaching blocks.
