Health & Social Care (Adults) - Higher Apprenticeship

Course overview This framework is applicable for a wide range of job roles within the health and social care sector and is delivered within the private and public sector. The health care sector’s primary purpose is to bring about the highest level of physical and mental health for all citizens, the healthcare sector currently employs around 2.2 million people, with the social care sector employing a further 1.3 million people. The Care Standards Act 2000 set the regulatory framework for staff working within social care and provides a base for minimum qualification requirements. The frameworks are delivered within hospitals, the community, doctors’ surgeries, hospices, residential homes, care homes and private homes. Typically an individual who is working towards this apprenticeship framework will assume the role of an adults’ residential manager, adult’s manager and Adults’ advanced practitioners in Adult Social Care. Apprenticeships are a tested way of training either a new or existing team member. An apprenticeship will provide on-the-job training which leads to an employee gaining a nationally recognised qualification which has been developed by the Sector Skills Council. The Apprenticeship framework will include the following element; • Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services for England – Level 5 Diploma Entry requirements An employee/apprentice must be over 16 years of age with no prior level 4 qualifications or above working a minimum of 30 contracted hours per week in an appropriate occupational role
