This course allows you to build and apply skills as well as academic knowledge in the area of health, social care and childcare. It provides a broad base of understanding whilst allowing you to focus on the following areas:
Modifiable risks to health: how health risks can change
Promoting good health
In year two, you can specialise in either health and social care or childcare.
This course can be taken alongside the Level 3 Certificate and Diploma in Health and Social Care or the Level 3 Children's Care, Learning and Development.

Course programme
Each internally assessed unit consists of an assignment where you study two of the above areas. An external assignment and examination is also taken at the end of the course.
This subject combines well with a range of other subjects such as psychology, sociology and the sciences.
Elements of this course can be delivered through the medium of Welsh.
This course gives students a wide choice of progression options into further study, training or employment. Staying at Gower College Swansea, students can progress on to Foundation Degrees in Care and Support or Early Childhood or Community Work and Employability Employment in social work, occupational therapy, speech and language, nursing, midwifery, psychology or early years.
Seven GCSEs at grade C or above including English, maths and science.
