Course programme

The goal of this two-day workshop is to provide participants with the framework to identify appropriate candidates for leverage and the skills to structure a leveraged finance transaction. Participants will be able to apply these skills to analyse High Yield / sub investment grade transactions. The workshop is highly interactive. Real life companies will be used in the case study (ies) and exercises to illustrate the key learning points. Specifically, the training will equip participants to:

  • Understand how market conditions have affected debt structures in the market place for leveraged transactions
  • Use forecasts of key cash flow drivers to determine the appropriate debt quantum and relationship between different debt instruments
  • Understand the risks in high yield transactions: the impact of economic factors on default rates, exit options and market vulnerability
  • Understand high yield bond structures: market practice, investor requirements (covenant packages) and price implications
  • Identify crossover names (BB / BBB) with improving or deteriorating credit (Fallen Angels)
