Programme structure
Year 1:

  • Spanish Language
  • Introduction to the History of Spain and Latin America
  • Introduction to the Literature of Spain and Latin America
  • The Linguistic History of Spain
  • Either three Portuguese Language units or three Catalan units

Year 2:

  • Spanish Language
  • Either Portuguese Language or Catalan Language plus four optional units

Year 3:

  • Year Abroad

  • Spanish Language
  • Either Portuguese Language or Catalan Language plus four optional units

Aims:

  • To enable students to acquire an in-depth specialist knowledge of a small number of specific aspects and periods of the language, literature, society, culture, politics and/or history of the countries where the Portuguese or Catalan language is spoken.
