Who is it for?
For people working in healthcare, the challenge of reducing healthcare acquired infections remains. Through learning more about healthcare acquired infections you will be able to tackle this huge challenge and work towards ensuring that spreading is reduced in your workplace. This half day training course meets all the requirements of the Induction Standard 4.6 “Infection control” and will raise your awareness of HIV and AIDS. This HIV / AIDS training course aims to ensure you safely follow precautions and can implement a safe working environment for you and your organisation.

This course will develop your organisation’s equal opportunities & HIV policy & offer best practice guidelines within the workplace, by exploring:
· Understand the difference between HIV & AIDS · Be able to identify the main components of the immune system · Be able to describe the ways of maintaining a healthy immune system · Understand the main ways of contracting HIV · Be able to differentiate the myths from the facts about acquiring HIV · Know what to do if you or someone else gets a needlestick injury · Realise the importance of following Stand Precautions · Be able to spot the signs and symptoms of AIDS related illness · Understand the psychological impact that being HIV+ has · Know about the available treatments for AIDS related illness · Be able to describe the common side-effects of AIDS medication · Be able to discuss ways of helping people to stick to their treatment plans
