Entry Requirements
Applicants should have one of the following: • BTEC National Certificate • Diploma in Electrical Engineering • One A level in either Mathematics or Physics plus four GCSEs at either grade A*-C or grade four and above • Access programmes • GNVQ Advanced Level in Engineering • Advanced Diploma in Engineering Minimum grades apply, please ask for details. The HNC qualifications offered from September 2017 are new versions introduced by BTEC. As a result, anyone wanting to accredit prior learning is advised to discuss this at interview. Applications from students whose first language is not English are welcome. For International students we require evidence of proficiency in English (including writing, speaking, listening and reading), the required minimum is: IELTS (SELT) 6.0 overall (minimum 5.5 in all components). Summary
This course is for individuals wishing to develop higher-level professional skills relevant to the Electrical and Electronic engineering sectors. The HNC programme team uses a combination of traditional classroom teaching, open learning and research-based experiential learning, delivered via laboratory experiments and demonstrations, industry standard IT applications and group activities. The course comprises mandatory and optional units. The mandatory units are: Level 4 Engineering Design Engineering Maths Engineering Science Managing a professional engineering project Electrical and Electronic Principles . Students are expected to attend college one day per week. The HNC programme team uses a combination of traditional classroom teaching, open learning and research-based experiential learning, laboratory experiments and demonstrations, industry standard IT applications and group activities.
